Visiting the clinic

As restrictions start to ease there’s consensus that a “new normal” will prevail across all facets of our lives. When our services resume, we want our clients to feel comfortable during their visit to us, and are actively working on developing enhanced health and safety protocols across all aspects of our operations with specific focus on cleanliness, hygiene and physical distancing.

Our intent is that when you walk through our doors, our commitment to your health and safety is immediately evident, and you are confident that it is our priority. It’s equally important to us that our team and their families also feel safeguarded as they take care of you.

These new protocols will include enhanced cleaning and sanitising routines, with a particular focus on all ‘touch’ points, and the introduction of new sanitising equipment, additional hand sanitisers and specific PPE such as face masks and gloves. New physical distancing protocols will allow more space between you in our reception area. When we restart, not only will we be refreshed and ready, but also trained and equipped to implement our new protocols to offer an even higher level of service.

What we do

Treatment is directed at pain relief, improved range of movement and a return to ‘normal’ . It involves making the individual aware of the probable causes of their injuries or pain and, once the symptoms have settled, how they might avoid recurrence of their pain or condition in the future.  We teach you to understand your symptoms, not be frightened of them – that way you are in control.

Osteopathy & Foot Care appointments are up to 30 minutes, Sports/Remedial Massage appointments are 45 minutes. This gives sufficient time to listen to a patient, make and explain the probable diagnosis and treat the problem comfortably and effectively.

For Osteopathy patients we also believe that seeing someone repeatedly without any significant improvement in their symptoms is a waste of a patient’s time and money. Generally if a condition is not improved 50% by 3 visits it is probable that treatment is unlikely to help in the long term.

X-rays for most conditions are unnecessary, waste time, money and expose you to unnecessary radiation. However, occasionally these are necessary and easily arranged.

Fees & Insurance

Fees

Our fees vary depending on who you are seeing within the practice, which clinic you visit and what type of consultation or treatment you are receiving.

We accept payment by all major credit & debit cards (not Amex) and cash.  (we do not accept cheques).  For appointments that take place at The Hampshire Clinic we also accept BACS payments, details on the invoice that is emailed to you after treatment.

Charges apply for non-attendance and late notice of any cancellation.

We appreciate that occasionally missing appointments is completely unavoidable. However we try very hard to provide you with an appointment that suits your busy life and we usually have patients on waiting lists. Failure to notify us in good time means other patients miss out.

Private medical insurance

Not all insurers cover all practitioners or procedures – please telephone the clinic or your private insurer to clarify.

Registered with all the major health insurers including: BUPA, AXAPPP, WPA, Cigna, Aviva, Vitality, Healix, Health-on-line amongst others.

Your private medical insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company, so we are unable to enter into discussions about what they cover.  Please contact them before attending your first appointment to obtain authorisation.

Cancellation and Failure-to-attend fees

A charge will apply if you fail to give adequate notice of your cancellation or fail to attend at all.

  • Less than 24 hours notice – 50% of full fee charged
  • Less than 4 hours notice – Full fee charged
  • Failure to attend – Full fee charged

Recurrent short notice cancellations: We will ask for pre-payment for the appointment at the time of booking.

Private medical insurance

We are providers of a service that most private health insurance companies are very happy to cover. We cannot legislate for what your cover entitles you to under your particular policy or what your insurance company, in their infinite wisdom, will or will not cover you for, but our service is accepted by most insurers.

For your convenience, we can generally invoice our fees directly to your insurer. This means less paperwork for you and you do not need to fund the cost yourself. In some circumstance it may be beneficial for you to pay directly at the discounted rate, in the event that you have a ‘capped’ limit set by your insurers as this could enable you to receive more treatment than if invoiced direct.

If you use a private medical insurance policy, you must contact them prior to your visit or you may find that you are not covered. We would expect you to supply details of your policy numbers and/or authorisation number before we commence a treatment. If you are not covered for some or all of your treatment it would be necessary to invoice you directly under the terms above.

You must also think about whether you need to pay an insurance excess on your claim (this is something you need to pay the insurance company, just the same as for car or holiday insurance claim) and what financial limit the insurer may put on your cover for treatment (this is usually a monetary value or a time limit on when the treatment must be completed by). There is normally a help-line at your insurance company who can assist you with this.

Online appointment booking

We apologise but due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to offer online booking at this time. Please call us on 01256 770022 to make an appointment.

Please check you receive a confirmation email of your appointment.  If this does not arrive within 15 minutes of you making your booking, please call us to check that it has all gone through. Once an appointment is booked it cannot be changed online, so please email us info@physicalbalance.com

Fees, late cancellation and failure to attend charges are the same as for a telephone booking which are set out in our Fees section – see above.  Please note we are cashless at this time, please bring a debit or credit card for payment (not Amex). Thank you for your understanding.
